LINDEN BULK'S EDWIN S. HIBBARD IS HONORED AS
‘DRIVER OF THE YEAR' BY THE XL INSURANCE COMPANIES

LINDEN, NJ, October 2007 – XL Insurance, representing the global insurance operations of XL Capital Ltd (NYSE: XL), recently honored Edwin S. Hibbard of Linden Bulk Transportation Co., Inc. as its "Driver of the Year."

As part of its annual "Drivers Recognition" program, XL Insurance's Environmental division acknowledges the safety and professionalism of drivers from some of the nation's leading transportation companies. With the help of a national panel of safety experts, XL Insurance also selects one driver whose safety record and professional career stands out in the industry and recognizes that individual as its "Driver of the Year."

At a luncheon in Mr. Hibbard's honor, XL Insurance awarded him with a commemorative pin, a US Savings Bond and a certificate citing his career accomplishments. Mr. Hibbard has driven more than 3 million with one non-preventable accident to his record. He has worked with the Linden family of motor carriers for more than 20 years of his 30 year commercial driving career.

Kate McGinn, Vice President in XL Insurance's Environmental unit said, "For his commitment to safety, his compassion and caring for others on the road, as well as his dedication and the high standards he brings to the trucking profession, we are pleased to honor Ed for his outstanding record and commitment." This sentiment is echoed by Roger Murphy, Assistant Vice President in XL's Environmental unit. Ed's commitment to his profession is to be applauded, and if we had more like him, we would all be better off."

He sets the "Best in Class" example for our other drivers to copy in his work and safety habits and he does this while driving hazardous materials in areas where weather plays a large factor in the driving environment."
